The Institute of Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, the Committee of Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences and the Pro Physica Foundation are organizing a 5th edition of the conference on Biomolecules and Nanostructures.
Our mission is to provide an informal, creative atmosphere and highly interactive nature of this meeting. Previous editions of this conference have gained the enthusiastic feedback from participants. Now, we have 112 participants and hope to meet you all in Jaroszowice.
The key topics of the Conference cover current subjects on the crossroads of molecular biology, physics and chemistry, including biomolecules, nanostructures, nanomachines, biosensors.
The specific topics of the “Biomolecules and Nanostructures 5” conference in 2015 will include:
- protein folding
- single-molecule manipulation
- biomolecular complexes and their interactions
- nucleic acids
- phenomena at bio-nano interfaces
and other subjects in molecular biophysics and biochemistry,
in a balance between experiments and theory.
The dates are May 13 (Wednesday) - May 17 (Sunday) 2015.
Registration is open. Please register online.
Several oral presentations (15 min.) have been selected from the abstracts.
The abstracts book will be issued within the Europhysics Conference Abstracts series published by the European Physical Society.
The Conference is organized under the auspices of the Division of Physics in Life Science of the European Physical Society. This is the fifth conference in a series. We changed location from Bedlewo near Poznan in Greater Poland (three times) to Pultusk near Warsaw in Mazovia two years ago and now to Jaroszowice near Krakow in Lesser Poland.
Polish Biochemical Society has sponsored two travel grants for graduate students participating in the conference. The grant is in the amount of 1800 PLN each to cover the full conference fee.
The travel grants funded by the Polish Biochemical Society have been awarded to:
- Aleksandra Skrajna, Institure of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS, Warsaw, Poland
- Sylwia Pawłowska, Institute of Fundamental Technological Research PAS, Warsaw, Poland
European Physical Society has sponsored two travel grants for Young Physicists participating in the conference. The grant is in the amount of 350 EUR each to partially cover the conference fee.
The travel grants funded by the European Physical Society have been awarded to:
- Papia Chowdhury, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Uttar Pradesh, India
- Mateusz Sikora, IST Austria, Klosterneuburg, Austria shared with Anastasiia Kovba, Taras Shevchenko National University, Kyiv (Ukraine)
The Conference will take place in a small village of Jaroszowice some 60 km away from Krakow - one of the oldest and the most famous Polish town, the historic capital city of Poland. The venue is a four star hotel and spa Jacek's Mill (Mlyn Jacka) . The place houses up to 110 participants. It offers all high-level facilities, nearby forests and mountains and the Skawa river with a newly built dam and a reservoir called Mucharz Lake (Jezioro Mucharskie).
How to get there
- The nearest airport is the Krakow Airport
- You can also get to Krakow from Warsaw by express trains (~ 3 h). Trains from Warsaw and Krakow to Zakopane stop also at Sucha Beskidzka, about 20 km from the venue.
The buses will pick the group up on May 13th (Wednesday) at about 17:15 p.m. (adjusted to the 17:03 arrival of the train from Warsaw). The pick-up place is a small parking lot near the Andel's Hotel Cracow (GPS 50.065944, 19.945653). The lot can be accessed from the shopping mall connected to the Krakow Glowny train station by the exit toward the Old Town.
A group of our Helpers will travel by this train and lead the group from the platform through the train station and the shopping mall to the bus pick-up place. Another group of Helpers will wait at this place from 16:45. They will all display the conference banners (posters).
The buses can stop there only briefly, just for the pick-up.
After the conference, on May 17th (Sunday), we will arrange for a bus transportation from the venue to Krakow Glowny - Main Train Station, at 10:00 a.m. The journey takes about one hour.
Individual transfers are arranged for the invited speakers in both directions, if necessary, e.g. directly from/to the Krakow Airport.
Individual assistance with getting to Jaroszowice and back to Krakow is possible, if required. Please, contact the conference office (
