The Institute of Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and the Committee of Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences are organizing the seventh edition of the conference on Biomolecules and Nanostructures.
The conference encompasses a broad range of the topics on the crossroads of molecular biology, physics and chemistry, including
The 2019 conference on Biomolecules and Nanostructures takes place in the Kashubian village of Pomlewo (Hotel Kozi Gród, 25 km south-west of Gdańsk). The area is generally known as Kashubian Switzerland: it is full of lakes that are located among picturesque hills. The Kashubian language, distinct from Polish, is still spoken just 10 km west of our venue, and many Kashubian family names, like Tusk, are in usage.
We continue our peripatetic tradition of the six previous meetings under related names, such as “Structure and Function of Biomolecules” or “Biomolecules and Nanostructures”, that were held in the village of Będlewo near Poznań, in 2004, 2006, and 2011, in Pułtusk near Warsaw in 2013, in Jaroszowice near Kraków in 2015, and in Podlesice in Polish Jurassic Upland in 2017. Whatever the choice of a small-village location, the goals of the conference remain similar. The first is to provide an active forum for cross-disciplinary discussions among specialists coming from different fields of biomolecular science and bio-related aspects of nanotechnology. The second is to share the current research findings in these very active and rapidly evolving branches of research. The third is to present both experimental and theoretical approaches used in the bio- and nano- studies. The fourth is to generate an opportunity for developing scientific and personal contacts in a non-distracting, non-urban setting.
The Biomolecules and Nanostructures 7 conference is organized under the auspices of the Division of Physics in Life Science of the European Physical Society. Previous editions of this conference have gained a good feedback from the participants. We hope to provide an informal and creative atmosphere and nature of the meeting, contributing to integration of the scientific community and to the fun of doing science.
The dates are May 15 (Wednesday) - May 19 (Sunday), 2019.
The registration is open. Please register here.
Abstract submission for poster presentations was open until April 14th, 2019.
A few short talks (15 min.) have been selected from the abstracts.
The abstracts book will be issued within the Europhysics Conference Abstracts series published by the European Physical Society.
Best-poster award
European Physical Society has sponsored one poster prize of an amount of 200 EUR for a poster prepared by a PhD student.
Travel grants
European Physical Society has sponsored a travel grant of 500 EUR for an invited speaker, and three travel grants of 350 EUR each for students at a European institution, who present a contribution during the conference.
The EPS Invited Speaker is Dennis E. Discher from the Biophysical Engineering Labs, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, U.S.A..
The travel grants for young researchers funded by the European Physical Society together with the full conference fee waiver from the conference organizers have been awarded to:
